At JD, we are committed to heart values because they convey our heart for God, for each other, and for the world. They convey how Christian love in action is written into our DNA and guides our daily walk with Jesus.

01

We believe there is one true living God, who eternally exists in three persons in unity, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

02

We believe that the Bible, consisting of 66 books, is sufficient and authoritative for the Christian life. The Bible, which was written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, is enough to equip us in our walk with God. No other writings are necessary for Jesus’ message to be understood, nor are any other writings required to equip us for a life of faith.

03

We believe that God made creation good but that through the sin (wrongdoing) of humankind, evil entered the world. We believe that this evil separated us from God and we can only be reconciled with Him by repenting (i.e. apologising to God and turning away from our wrongdoing) and being born-again (i.e. receiving impartation of divine life which is manifested in a radical change in our moral character, from the love and life of sin to the love of God and the life of righteousness). Our reconciliation cannot be earned; it is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. We believe that the refusal to be reconciled with God through faith in Jesus Christ results in being condemned to eternal separation from God, whereas reconciliation results in the gift of eternity in the perfect presence of God.

04

We believe that Jesus was born of the virgin Mary, lived a morally perfect life, died for our sins, was triumphantly resurrected, and ascended to Heaven. We believe that Jesus advocates for us to the Father, that He will come again, and His eternal Kingdom will reign.

05

We believe that as Christians, we are reconciled with God, set free from the condemnation of our sin (justification), and are on a continual path of becoming more like Jesus (sanctification), completely and only because of Jesus’ finished work. We believe that our salvation and our future resurrection in an incorruptible body is secure if we remain in Jesus.

06

We believe in the sacraments (rites) of adult baptism by immersion and of the Lord’s Supper (also known as Communion or the Eucharist).

07

We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit for Christians with supernatural signs, empowering the Church for its mission in the world. We believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit for the building up of the Church and ministry to the world.

08

We believe in Christ’s leadership of the Church and in His working through diverse ministries for the unity, maturity and growth of the Church.

09

We believe in the privilege and responsibility of wise stewardship of all that God has given, including the practice of gifting to ministries that grow the Kingdom on earth.

10

We believe that marriage is ordained by God in Scripture as a reflection of Christ’s relationship with His Church. We believe that marriage is the exclusive union between one man and one woman, for their mutual help and comfort, and is intended to a be life-long commitment.

11

We believe in the equality of men and women, that both are created in the image of God, and that God calls both men and women to serve Him whole-heartedly in ministry.
